We travelled 1 hour and 45 mins just to take our truck to Precision Diesel. They came highly recommend to us. They gave us a much better quote than anyone else to fix the DEF pump etc on our 2019 Duramax. Impressed with the quality and knowledge in their work. Great to deal with over the phone and very nice people.

Brought my truck in as a true non-runner, after previously being led to believe by another shop that the engine was hydrolocked.

From the first conversation, Matt and the crew took the time to properly diagnose the issue from first principles rather than relying on assumptions. They methodically worked through the problem and determined the actual cause was a seized A/C clutch bearing, not an internal engine failure as I had been told elsewhere.

The diagnosis was clearly explained, the repair made sense, and the truck was fixed without unnecessary parts replacement or guesswork. They were also very respectful of budget, clearly separating what was required to get the truck running from what could reasonably be deferred.

Communication throughout the process was excellent — clear updates, realistic timelines, and no surprises at pickup. This is a shop that genuinely understands diesel diagnostics and runs a tight operation. Fixed my OM642 Jeep Grand Cherokee which was a puzzle for my previous mechanic. It wouldn't run right despite all efforts and no codes on the scanner. Turns out is was a bad ECM. Over a period of three months post-delete, I went down a rabbit hole chasing a P0299 (underboost) code on a 2016 EcoDiesel. With no dedicated diesel shops nearby, Googling around led me to Precision Diesel, and I cold-called them, hoping I had missed something obvious during the delete.

Matt was very helpful over the next four or five calls. He was patient and informative every time, knowing I was doing the work myself to save money. Not once did he suggest I stop asking “silly” questions or just bring the truck in. He understood it was a 2.5-hour drive for me and helped as best he could over the phone.

I eventually took the truck to a local shop with some EcoDiesel experience. They mainly specialize in custom gas builds and a few Chevy deletes, so I don’t blame them for the conclusion they reached—that it was likely a cab-off turbo replacement.

So, faced with a $4,000–$6,000 turbo job and having already put about 30 hours of my own time into chasing gremlins, I figured the 2.5-hour drive (and a night in my friend’s camper) was worth it to let the pros sort it out.

I was very happy to see at least ten EcoDiesels in various states of repair—from flat-tired, rusted hulks to shiny, newer models—filling up the yard.

It took them just two hours to figure it out…

Wait for it…

It was a dirty MAF.

I had pulled and cleaned the MAF sensor myself—or so I thought. But I guess my instincts were right. After so much time running in circles over the P0299, I was deep in the weeds and just needed a professional. And boy, did I get one.

Matt and his crew are caring, professional, and absolute gunslingers in the diesel repair world. Just look at the reviews—I’ve never seen this many that go on for paragraphs.

Precision Diesel offers both parts and service along with a lot of after market equipment. They have a reputation for doing excellent work and honesty.
I arrived for my appointment and they took my pickup in straight away. They found the problem promptly.
They will definitely be my service provider in the future.
